Our Uninvited Guests - The Secret Lives of Britain's Country Houses 1939-1945

Author Julie Summers gives the reader a behind the scenes glimpse of life in some of Britain's greatest country houses that were occupied by people who would otherwise never have set foot in such opulent surroundings. Well known local houses such as Waddesdon Manor and Bleinheim Palace are included.
Julie Summers is the award-winning author of 14 non-fiction books focussing on the two world wars. She was one of four women in the recent Times list of 50 top historians. Her book "Jambusters" inspired ITV's successful drama "Home Fires". She is the current Royal Literary Fund fellow at St Hilda's College, Oxford.
Following her talk, Julie will sign copies of her books, which will be available for purchase.
