Alexandra Wood Gala Concert

Sunday 17th May, 7.30pm

Holy Trinity Church, Cookham

£25

Alexandra Wood brings together a selection of top musicians from leading orchestras and presents an exciting concert using the theme and music from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.

She sees the concert as ‘an exploration and reimagining of the Four Seasons'. Each one will be preceded by a little chat with musical demonstrations - giving signposts to listen out for, and to explain exactly how Vivaldi tells the story, or evokes a mood or atmosphere. Added to that will also be a musical ‘nugget’, from a different sound world which maybe sets the scene, or comments on a particular aspect of the following season.

She hopes that both the unpacking of the music, and the contrasting pieces will help us to play, listen and experience the Vivaldi in a new way. Definitely a fabulous concert not to be missed.

Cookham is extraordinarily lucky to have Alexandra as a resident of Cookham. She is recognised for her work as an orchestral leader, chamber musician and soloist. She is Leader of the City of London Sinfonia and the Aurora Orchestra and has appeared with many of the UK’s leading ensembles in repertoire ranging from Baroque and Classical music to major contemporary works.
