WildCookham is a local wildlife society and registered charity dedicated to the preservation, protection and enhancement of all aspects of our natural world in and around Cookham.

They work with local landowners, our councils and partner organisations and have a large group of volunteers working in teams to set up and support wildlife protection and development projects. Their goal is to make Cookham and its surrounding landscape safe for wildlife, and to ensure that it is sustainable for the future for all life in it, including ourselves.

WildCookham believe a big part of their job is to help local residents understand and appreciate our relationship with the natural world and never to take it for granted.

One contribution to this will be at the Cookham Festival when there will be a programme of events under the title ‘Our Common Earth’.

Featuring a range of events to celebrate the culture, history and heritage of our shared natural world, Our Common Earth takes as its starting point the fight to preserve the Common lands of Cookham.

You can enjoy a talk about the 19th century 50-year battle over the Commons, a specially commissioned children’s cantata which brings the story up to date, art to celebrate the relationships between humans and nature, walks to discover Cookham’s environmental and historical heritage and the beauty of our wildlife and wild places.

And, to start the journey, join Adam Nicolson, one of Britain’s best-loved authors writing about the environment and our relationship with it. A true Festival Feast!
