Jim Donahue: Thames Valley: A Snapshot of English Life, Past, Present and Future

Saturday 2nd May, 3pm
The Parish Centre, Holy Trinity Cookham
£10

From Windsor to Oxford, the Thames Valley tells the story of England itself – its history, people and landscape.

Seen through the fresh eyes of an American observer, this fascinating talk uncovers hidden layers of the region’s past, from prehistoric sites and Viking raids to today’s world of music, film and technology.

It explores how the valley’s idyllic villages balance heritage with modern growth, revealing how this remarkable stretch of river continues to reflect the evolving spirit of English life – past, present and future.

Jim Donahue, winner of the British Life Photography Award, is an American-born photographer and author of several books on Thames Valley communities, including A Portrait of Henley-on-Thames. Having lived in the region for over 25 years and served as an Oxfordshire councillor, he offers unique insight into English life.
